Specialization: Computational Physics

The specialization in Computational Physics focusses on computational approaches in physical sciences, with a particular focus on solid state physics and physics of the atmosphere.  


Courses of the specialization

Compulsory courses:

  • Computational Physics Laboratory [1] (6 CFU, II semester, II year)

At least 18 CFU (of which at least 6 of TAF C) between

  • Molecular Simulation [2] (6 CFU, I Semester, II Year)
  • Fluid Dynamics [3] (6 CFU, I Semester, II Year)
  • Software Development Methods [4]  (6 CFU, I Semester, II Year)
  • Parallel Programming for HPC [5] (6 CFU, II Semester, II Year)
  • Numerical Methods in Quantum Mechanics [6] (6 CFU, II Semester, II Year)
  • Simulation of Multibody Systems [7] (6 CFU, II Semester, II Year)
  • Computational Quantum Chemistry [8] (6 CFU, II semester, II Year)
  • Statistical Mechanics [9] (6 CFU, I Semester, I Year)
  • Probabilistic Machine Learning [10] (6 CFU, II semester, II Year)
  • Deep Learning [11] (6 CFU, I semester, II Year)
  • Advanced Topics in Machine Learning [12] (6 CFU, II Semester, II Year, Available from AY 2022/23)
